Event Horizon XII

Event Horizon is back for its spring edition. Join us for a night of expansive, thought-provoking improvised and experimental music. 

FAAA (CBUS) is the solo project of sound artist Joshua Maxon Novak. Inspired by the most outre fringes of leftfield techno, Novak works with shards of broken synth noise, austere clicks, and subverted ROMpler presets to create a defenestrated breed of not-footwork looped at the exact moment it loses its footing. 

Penultimate Gaze (AK) is a new duo composed of Gov Naim and Reed Evan Parker making their public debut with this event. Reports indicate that Naim creates live cut-ups and loops from their spoken word performance accompanied by Parker’s arsenal of vintage synths. 

Moth Cock (Kent) is the best band in the world. Most widely known for a string of essential underground classics on Hausu Mountain, Moth Cock makes vital living art that is heady, comic, and deeply fried. During their legendary live sets, Pat Modugno conjures chaos and mass confusion from an array of grimey electronics while Doug Ghent remains the serene eye of the storm, unwinding liquid scales and manic skronks from his tenor sax. Real heads know.  

NosawwasoN (AK) is multi-disciplinary artist, urban farmer, and fermenter Avery Mags Duff. For over a decade, Duff has honed a richly rustic approach to noise. Using singing saw, farming implements, and other not-readily “musical” tools, Duff conjures bracing and aching sheets of sound, frequently organized around spoken word poetry. Duff is an accomplished painter whose work is currently featured in the Cincinnati Contemporary Arts Center’s group show “Ohio Now: State of Nature.”

Nothing Phase (CLE) is Paul Ryan, beloved purveyor of austere midwestern techno. A perennial favorite at Event Horizon, Paul will be providing interstitial playback.
